BOYS HOOPS: Anchorpoint sinks Oakwood 52-24

The Anhcorpoint Christian boys basketball team improved to 2-0 in Coastal Athletic League play, defeating Oakwood 52-24 on Friday in Morgan Hill.
After a rough non-league schedule to open the 2010-11 campaign, the Warriors (2-4 overall) have settled nicely into league action with Friday’s victory being their second by double digits to open CAL.
Jordan Suniga posted a game-high 21 points, Kareem Lucas contributed 15 points to accompany a staggering 20 of the team’s 37 rebounds and Ruben Alnas had 10 points as six of the eight Warriors deposited at least two points.
Anchorpoint resumes league action today at Trinity High School in Monterey. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m.

What a difference a year makes.
Last season, the Anchorpoint Christian boys basketball team lost twice to league opponent York by a combined 12 points.
On Wednesday, the Warriors kicked off Coastal Athletic League play with a convincing 70-47 victory over York in Gilroy.
“They are surprising me all of a sudden,” head coach KC Adams said. “That team beat us pretty good twice last year.”
Kareem Lucas posted a team-high 21 points while Samual Apolinar and Jordan Suniga went for 20 and 19, respectively.
The Warriors jump back into league play Friday at Oakwood in Morgan Hill at 4:30 p.m.
